TOP 20 DESTINATIONS: 15- 11
15. THE LAKE DISTRICT – 1,100,000
Just beating Turkey by a parsons nose it’s The Lake District. Now if you look at the people who come here on holiday, you'd be forgiven for thinking "this is where the fit brits come"
Everyone's wearing Rohan trousers and you’re no-one without a compass and placky things for holding maps. But I'm sorry to say it's a con, the furthest most of us walk is 2 miles.

14. SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS – 1,150,000
The men may wear skirts and it may rain more than any of our other destinations. But the call of the Highlands is strong enough to bring it in at number 14.
Everyone's hunting something in Scotland. For the Royals it's Stags. For the Press, it's Royals. And for the rest of us. It's Nessie.

13. FLORIDA - 1,250,000
We are onto our top American destination in this countdown. In fact over half of us flying across the Atlantic are heading here. Of course when I say Florida, I really mean Orlando - as four out of five us go no further than the theme park capital of the world.

12. THE ALGARVE – 1,260,000
Coming in at number twelve is the Algarve which is holiday heaven for those middle aged swingers amongst us. The average visitor is 43.
We're gagging for it - Golf, that is - and the Algarve with its 29 courses scores every time. And frankly, if it's good enough for Cliff Richard, Bonnie Tyler and Judith Chalmers, who are the rest of us to knock it?

11. CYPRUS – 1,338,000
At number 11 it’s Cyprus. Once we’re off our charter flight we split, like an atom bombarded by neutrons.
Those of us over 30 head to Paphos and spend our days pretending to sightsee and our nights on our backs.
But those of us under 30 head for Aiya Napa spend our days on our backs and our nights on the razzle, giving the words night sweats a whole new meaning as we dance until dawn.
