Age: 17

Fran was an academic girl at school and she enjoyed playing hockey. She was good at making friends, was a vegetarian and has always had an awareness of the environment. Then her violent temper took over and she messed up her education, gaining few qualifications and leaving herself unable even to hold down a job at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

She stood still as her friends progressed and this led to greater and greater frustration and anger. Dreaming of putting her life back on track, Fran thought about becoming a DJ, but was unable to control her anger at herself enough to concentrate on doing anything to further this ambition.

Graduating just after Christmas, Fran has a job and her relationship with her mother is still difficult at times but improving.

	Fran, an only child, lives with her single mum in Bath. They both realised that they had reached the disturbing position of Fran bullying her mother and controlling their relationship. After the camp... Fran's mum, Sue: 'I certainly wasn't expecting a fairy tale ending to this because that's not the reality ... But I'm so proud of Fran that she has come back from Utah and now envisages a future for herself'.
