Age: 17
When he was a child, Charlie was mad about sport, especially rugby. He was very athletic and from six to thirteen years old he attended Wimbledon's football academy.
He was a lovely child, say his parents, but as he got older he began to get more and more angry about life. Eventually, a gifted child, he was sponsored to go to Harrow, but he could not control his tempers and was asked to leave after just eight days because of his aggressive, violent outbursts. He has been asked to leave five schools.
As well as his problems at school, Charlie would frequently get involved in fights and he smashed up his bedroom and set fire to his brother's wardrobe after an argument over a T-shirt. His parents cannot understand why he has gone off the rails.

Even though Charlie fails to make it home for Christmas, he graduates before most of his fellow teenagers.

A frequent fighter before attending RedCliff, now he has had a 'scrape or two', but he is generally much more responsible. He is working fulltime and thinking about a military career.

Charlie's parents are separated and he lives with his dad, a postman, in south London.
After the camp... Charlie's dad, Nick:
'I'm really proud of him... proud of what he's done ... Since he got back he's been cooking his own dinners in the pot he used out in Utah. I don't think I'd chance him cooking me a dinner though!'
