Bryan Dion:
A steady pair of hands
Bryan's profile contrasts in one way or another with nearly all the other
Boss Swap participants; it is less extreme, less flamboyant and less
dominating. Bryan's profile describes someone who is procedural, systematic,
organised and very sure of himself. This is someone who is not so
obviously entrepreneurial but who has quite exceptional managerial potential
- implying an ability to direct others in an effective and motivating
fashion. Bryan should be sensitive to other people's needs and interests,
and will probably encourage participation from his team rather than seeking
to dominate them - the ideal profile for a company manager rather than an
entrepreneur. It also appears that Bryan is quite a principled person, that
he has a social conscience and that he will be concerned to treat people
fairly and justly. He will prefer to work in an environment that endorses
themes of integrity and fair play and will look for integrity and a strong
work ethic in his employees.
Interpersonal
Bryan probably has very few problems of an interpersonal nature at work. He
is likely to be very calm, even-tempered and consistent so that people will
know where they stand with him. It is unlikely that he will display any
extreme personality characteristics; rather it seems that he will present a
consistent image to the world, remaining relatively unfazed and untroubled
by what life or work may throw at him. A very strong theme in Bryan's
profile is his reliable, thorough, and organised approach to work. It
certainly seems that he will promote high standards, but not in a fussy,
nit-picking, micro-managing sort of way but rather as an overall
philosophy. However, he seems to be a very determined person and he may not
easily be moved from a solution he is convinced about or that has worked for
him in the past.
Bryan's profile suggests that he will be ambitious, very hard working and
responsible. He is not someone who enjoys being amongst others just in order
to receive attention from them. He may well be rather reserved: a
perceptive and considerate person who is genuinely interested in others and
in tune with their needs or values. If he does appear in the spotlight it
will be his ambition and professionalism that has put him there rather than
any innate desire to hog the limelight.
Bryan is also an imaginative person who is interested in culture and in ideas
and who may enjoy the intellectual and conceptual challenge of his job;
probably a 'big picture' person who thinks strategically. He will probably
also be concerned about aesthetics. He will have an interest in
presentation and appearance as well as about utility and quality.
Bryan and Boss Swap
Bryan's apparent resilience and unflappability should stand him in good
stead in Boss Swap. The question will be whether his managerial and
interpersonal skills are sufficient to win over an unfamiliar work force?
Will he find it hard to stamp his rather traditional style on this new
territory in the time available? Will his attachment to former winning
strategies interfere with his flexibility or will his integrity, interest in
others and concern for fair play win the allegiance needed to carry the day?
He is unlikely to burst onto the scene with a flamboyant self-promoting
fanfare, but one thing seems certain, Bryan will be determined to make a go
of it and will give it all he's got.
