Mike Porritt
Q: What were you hoping for when you agreed to do Boss Swap?
A: Publicity for our business.
Q: How did you find doing the Swap?
A: It degenerated into hard work.
Q: What was the best bit of the Swap?
A: The best bit was drinking Bruce's champagne after I'd fired his wife.
Q: What was the worst bit of the Swap?
A: Putting my foot in a load of shit outside one of the shops.
Q: What were the firm's strengths?
A: Using other people's stock. I mean that seriously: it is a great advantage for a business not to have to hold stock.
Q: What were the firm's weaknesses?
A: The management's total lack of ambition (chuckles).
Q: What do you think you could have achieved if you had more time?
A: If I had two years, Lynx would have eighty shops.

Bruce Burkitt
Q: What were you hoping for when you agreed to do Boss Swap?
A: To challenge myself, to raise the profile of Lynx and to have an outsider's opinion on my firm.
Q: What was the best bit of the Swap?
A: The best bit was when Mike's wife turned up to the site, all dolled up. She never normally comes in, but she had heard that I was a younger, fitter, better looking, more successful replacement for Mike!
Q: What was the worst bit of the Swap?
A: Realising that Mike had only taken part for the publicity and that it was all a big joke. I worked really hard, I lost half a stone, but he just lazed around. He didn't even come up with any constructive changes.
Q: How did you get a feel for your new firm?
A: By interacting with staff, shadowing them as they did their job. As my experience is in sales, that was the main area that I decided to concentrate on.
Q: What were the firm's strengths?
A: They sell cheap cars, they've got fantastic turnover, but their profitability is negligible. You could make more money stacking shelves at Tesco.
Q: What were the firm's weaknesses?
A: Their procedures and their management. They have no procedures and their management is poor. You are employed at Carshock on the basis of how many pints you can down.
Q: Did you learn anything from doing the swap?
A: It confirmed my belief that my firm is run and presented in a professional manner.
