If money is no object and you’re pushing the boat out, then get the water taxi to the Liassidi Palace, which is the most sumptuous hotel we featured on Perfect Getaway. This is high, Venetian style, rococo and baroque, with a grand entrance hall, authentic antiques and marble and guilt everywhere.

It’s been recently refurbished and so comes complete with all mod cons. The fact that it’s the new kid in town also means that it is perhaps trying a little harder than many of the more famous luxury hotels in town. The Liassidi Palace, which really was a Dowager’s Palace, also has a great location in the heart of the ancient Castello district.
