The Temple

The Temple in Stancombe Park, Dursley is definitely a place you don’t want to share with anybody but the one you love or lust after.
This Georgian Folly deep in the sumptuous grounds of a stately home is a copy of a classical Greek Temple overlooking a lake, hidden away down winding paths, and it’s the ultimate Grade One listed love shack. It’s built for two, with just one large double bed, a bathroom and an enormous Georgian salon decorated in deep 18th Century chintz.
The Temple is a place for poring slowly over old books or new lovers, living like a Lord and his Lady, before ambling through your amazing gardens and possibly even braving a dip in the lake, before hurrying back to a log fire. The gardens are so lush and splendid that chances are you won’t even be spotted by or spot anyone else. Your time here will be spent in splendid isolation as you two are the only guests.
On the edge of the Cotswolds, you can venture out to sample the many local country pubs amid the soft sandstone villages but the real treat is the togetherness. Fine food is prepared specially for you, by the folks up at the big house, meeting your every culinary desire, but otherwise you’re all on your own.
