The hotel is owned by Mulberry and as you would expect it is an impressive country house, beautifully decorated, lots of deep leather sofas, beautiful tapestries with a relaxing and luxurious drawing room and bar area.

Our bedroom was full of character but very small and the bathroom did not have a shower - we weren’t impressed. This is not in keeping with the hotel rates and when compared against the likes of Cowley Manor or Babbington House and it does not offer value for money when you consider that there are only limited spa facilities and no gardens. However, after a word with reception, they did upgrade us to a better room.

All in all Shepton Mallet is worth visiting just for the Mulberry factory shop's 70% discount on hand bags! But I'd recommend staying at the Queensbury Hotel in Bath & travelling the 20 miles to the shop for a day trip.
