Winter Warmers

Esther Selsden

Only three hours away by air, the south coast of Spain is a long-time favourite for British holidaymakers on the lookout for some winter sun. Forget the cliché of large villa complexes sprawling across the coast; there are many ways to leave the tourist masses behind and enjoy this corner of the Iberian peninsula. The Spanish down here may be wearing gloves and scarves but for us north Europeans it can feel more like a good day in May.

Esther Selsden's found three very different hotels where you can leave behind dreary Britain and bask under sunny blue skies, topping up your vitamin D.

a bedroom at La Sacristia
La Sacristia, Andalucia
An inn with the in-crowd, popular for its rooftop terrace.

A room at Casas del Rey
