Take a look at new designs
New designs to improve the area around a Castleford town centre underpass go on display next week, and local people are being asked to give their views.
Architects from DSDHA have developed a stylish landscaping scheme for the public space around the new Tittle Cott underpass. This key route into Castleford town centre was recently improved with the installation of a bigger tunnel. Now the landscaping scheme promises to further transform this area.
The scheme is being developed as part of the Castleford Project – the world's first televised regeneration scheme. It is being developed in partnership by Wakefield Council, Channel 4, regeneration agencies and the local community as part of wider initiatives to improve the Castleford area.
The first phase of the new underpass was installed in December 2005 funded by Wakefield Council and Edinburgh House Estates – improving public access to the town centre shopping area from Castlefields.
Take a look at the proposed designs on Friday and Saturday February 17 and 18 at 2 Sagar Street, Castleford, between 10am-4pm.
