Tests Session For New Castleford Bridge Model
A scale model of Castleford's proposed new bridge is to be unveiled and put through its paces at a specialist testing centre next week. Based on brand new designs from top architect Renato Benedetti of McDowell+Benedetti, the model has been developed by Leeds firm Hydrotec, international experts in hydraulic design and modelling.

Cuban Artist's Canvas On Castleford
Acclaimed Cuban artist Carlos Garaicoa comes to Castleford this week – his first visit to gather ideas for a newly commissioned art work. Arts Council England working with Yorkshire Sculpture Park have agreed a £15,000 commission to be developed as part of the Castleford Project's focus on the role of art and culture in regeneration.

Traders To Trial High Tech Market Stall
Castleford is set to become the testing ground for a prototype market stall, custom built from revolutionary new hi tech material. This world first construction has been commissioned as part of the town centre improvement scheme within the Castleford Project. The prototype stall features a translucent canopy built from a recently developed material called 'CURV' so far used only in products such as bullet proof vests and, car bumpers. When not in use the canopy will be housed in a tough outer casing which is aluminium coated with electro luminescent material, which makes it glow in the dark. It is designed to double as a stall during trading hours, which then transforms into a street lighting feature.
