Grandmother Terri Wardner from Southampton was horrified when 100 passengers aboard a cruise ship guessed she was 64 years old.

But it was no surprise really. Although Terri tried to keep herself looking younger, she was making some classic mistakes which made her look worse. She had collected a fantastic collection of make-up – but felt that the more she put on the better she looked.

Terri didn’t neglect her eyebrows – she just shaved them off each morning and painted on some new ones an inch above.

And her bleached blonde hair didn’t make her look like sex goddess Marilyn Monroe but more like Bet Lynch. Her Deirdre Barlow glasses just made her look like a relic from the 70’s.

Nicky and the team took Terri in hand and taught her some lessons on growing old gracefully. Their message. Less is more and dark roots look terrible on everyone whatever their age. Their simple solutions made her look ten years younger.

3 hours worth of heat styling at least 3 times a week had left Terri’s hair looking more glum than glam. It was dry and brittle and the brassy blonde colour did nothing more than age her. The use of blonde highlights instantly regained its vitality and life.

Andrew wanted to give Terri a style that would work with her natural curl and prevent the need for so many styling tools. By adding extensions to her shorter side layers Andrew instantly transformed Terri’s style from glum granny to glamorous chick.

Over the years Terri has built up a make-up collection to be envied by any make-up addict but Ruby found a few horrors lurking within the pile and instantly set to work on debugging and de-cluttering Terri’s make up bag.

Having shaved her eye brows off from an early age, Ruby gave Terri a masterclass in classy eyebrows for those over 50.

And after years of relying on layering on the make-up to hide her aging looks, Ruby taught Terri that less is definitely more in the style and sophistication stakes.
