Jeanette Quinn from Manchester was paying the price for a late-night party animal life. If she’d spent more time applying moisturiser than out clubbing, she might still be looking her age – instead of ten years older.

The hangover kicked in and it was time to do battle. Years of lost sleep and other party vices had left this 39-year-old mum looking a vintage 50, according to bargain hunters at an antique fair.

If only she’d realised that eight hours of shut-eye is one of the best anti-ageing treatments around. Apart from the psychological benefits, sleep is when the skin regenerates: in other words it’s a nightly chemical peel without the cost, pain or peeling.

Nicky took Jeanette away from her nightlife and pushed her into the cold light of day. Once the team and Jeanette had got over the shock, they got lifting and tucking, cleaning and whitening, cutting and colouring until our little night-owl looks a real bird of paradise.

Years of home dying had left Jeanette’s hair as a dry patchwork of browns and greys. The shape, texture and salt and pepper colours of her hair were all aging her.

Andrew wanted to keep Jeanette’s hair dark but lose the grey and opted for a deep, warm brown.

Jeanette needed a whole new style to match her new look and Andrew decided to go for one of the season’s hottest cuts – the bob. But not before giving Jeanette strict instructions to have regular haircuts every 6-8 weeks in order to keep it looking fantastic!

Make-up

Firstly, Ruby wanted to tackle Jeanette’s areas of brown pigmentation. She used a slightly heavier concealer in those areas which is also very useful for covering up all kinds on sins such as dark circles under the eyes or those dreaded spots.

TOP TIP: As a general rule of thumb with concealers, neutralise one colour with it’s opposite. For dark circles, brown marks or blue bruises, go for a yellow or orange. To cover acne or redness, go for green and for yellowing bruises opt for a pink.

For a base, Ruby selected a lightening foundation. As well as generally covering, this is specially formulated to catch the light and illuminate the face.

Ruby finished the look with mascara to emphasis the eyes and a pale gloss on the lips for a natural look.
