At 48, Bev Hawkins from Suffolk may be the same age as Madonna – but that’s about all they had in common.

While Madge can slink around in sexy clothes to show off her super-toned body, Bev was suffering from an affliction which could only be called ‘mutton dressed as lamb.’

She was guilty of some serious fashion crimes. Spray-on jeans, mini-skirts and too-revealing tops but despite the teenage clothes, she still looked like an OAP to one hundred people polled.

Poor Bev. It wasn’t just the tarty clothes.The tragic teeth and unfunny laughter lines which screamed "light me another fag" didn’t help. And her straggly hair and hooked nose once led to her being called her husband’s mother – and a witch - in the street.

But just as Madonna can reinvent herself – so did our Bev, with the help of the 10 Years Younger team.

So it really will be a happy 2007 for Bev, thanks to Nicky and the gang.

Andrew used Bev’s original dark blonde as a base and added biscuit and caramel colours to give her a younger and fresher look.

TOP TIP: As you get older don’t think that you have to cut your hair short - layering and shaping can keep long hair elegant.

Make-up

TOP TIP: As your skin ages, you may need to wear foundation to cover blotches but make sure not to wear it too thick and heavy as that will make you look like mutton dressed as lamb.

Ruby didn’t want Bev to wear too much eye make up. By applying it a little lighter she created a much more youthful and sophisticated look that is bang on trend.

TOP TIP: In your 40s it’s better to draw attention to your features and not the make up. Go for a subtle colour palette to complement what you’ve got.

As Bev’s lips are quite thin, Ruby opted for an understated lip colour as a bold shade would have drawn too much attention to their thinness.
