Specsavers’ resident fashion expert is stylist-to-the-stars Gok Wan. Here he selects his personal favourites from Specsavers’ own exclusive range of glasses.
A specs wearer for many years, Gok is passionate about glasses and has built up a wardrobe of more than 35 pairs and is always on the lookout for more.
‘I’m like the glasses equivalent of Imelda Marcos,’ he jokes.
Gok believes that glasses are a fabulous fashion accessory, not just an optical necessity.
‘The old adage that boys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses is the most outmoded and untrue saying of all time. They have indisputably enhanced my sex appeal – well, they’ve given me a fighting chance – and that of a zillion others.
An otherwise insignificant outfit can be completely lifted by some slick specs, Gok says.
‘I bet you didn’t know that they can shorten a long nose, widen close-set eyes, flatter your skin tone and sculpt those cheekbones. Amazing, I know.’
The key to looking good in glasses, explains Gok, is to make the most of your best features and play down your least favourite using a clever combination of shape and colour.
‘Your glasses can be glamorous, classic, sporty, sparkly, colourful, studious – whatever way you feel or want to look that day. Complete your look – glasses are your style pièce de resistance.’
