Teens on Trial

KIRSTY - SHOPLIFTING

Kirsty is a 15-year-old teenager who regularly shoplifts. Despite stealing from shops every weekend she has only been caught once. She has never been convicted of shoplifting and has not been issued with an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO). Although she steals all the time, the most expensive object she has stolen was a £15 coat from a department store. Kirsty normally steals cheap accessories such as bangles, earrings and caps. The one time she was caught, Kirsty was arrested and had to spend a few hours in a cell at the police station. The charges were dropped and Kirsty had to write a letter of apology to the shopkeeper she stole from. However, this was a few months ago and the experience hasn't stopped Kirsty stealing at all. If Kirsty continues on this path she could face a more serious penalty.
