Darcey Bussell
Im doing a self-portrait because I feel that you are two different people. I feel totally
different when I am on stage to when I am at home. Im showing a piece of footage of myself
in a ballet that I love, La Bayadere. It's one of the most technically difficult roles,
the choreography is perfect. Im also playing a woman instead of just a princess, which
I play a lot in all the fairy tale ballets. My self-portrait also shows me here, in Holland
Park, because this is where I was brought up and this is what was important to me. To
come somewhere like this you can cut off, you can forget youre a dancer and pretend you
are an average person in an average job.
