‘I’m writing poems all the time and for my self-portrait I wanted to write
something that was honest, personally and politically. I am angry about the injustice
in the world. I do go to bed at night with images in my head that I have seen on television,
or read in the newspaper, or just heard about and I take it very personally. For me, this
poem ‘Naked’ is the most personal and honest poem I’ve ever written. I
actually think it’s a love poem and this is about the love for myself and the love
of truth and reason – all my life that's been me.’
