Design guru James Dyson used a back to basics approach to re-design the ordinary, household washing machine. Rather than be influenced by washing machines already in the shops, Dyson designers decided to ask a more obvious question: how do you get clothes clean? Sometimes good design is about asking the question that nobody else has thought of, and in this case it led to an innovative and new form of washing machine.
