Schools Competition Winner!

We are pleased to announce that the first prize of a ClipBank History library and a VIP trip to the Imperial War Museum goes to:

CHADWELL HEATH FOUNDATION SCHOOL

The response to the competition has been incredible. Some 1000 students were involved and their enthusiasm for the subject was reflected in the hugely impressive standard of entries we received.

The presentations covered a broad range of topics from the story of two brothers who left to join the war effort with only one returning, to the plight of a local memorial hospital now threatened with closure.

All the entries we received respectfully told very poignant and moving stories of the experiences of young soldiers fighting in the First World War, and in many cases the presentations involved substantial research and investigation.

Other entries highlighted by the judges were: Withins HS, Bolton; Watford Boys Grammar School; Bramcote School, Scarborough; Currie Community HS, Edinburgh; Leeds Girls High School; Waid Academy.


Channel 4 would like to thank sincerely everyone who took part in the competition for all their hard work, creativity and commitment.

Even though the competition has closed you can still use the Lesson plan – 110k Word and online tools to get your students to 'Adopt a Tommy' or 'Adopt a Memorial'.
