Your responsibilities 8/12

I want to go on the pill, but I'm scared of going to the clinic Don't worry, it's all very straightforward and confidential. Find out where your local clinic is and whether you need an appointment. On the day you'll be asked a few general questions about your health, to make sure there's no medical reason why you shouldn't have a particular sort of contraceptive. But remember the pill does not protect you against STIs including HIV – you’ll need to use condoms to protect you against these. There'll be a chance to ask questions, or talk about any problems or worries you have. Some clinics have a counsellor who you can talk to if you want. The doctor or nurse will help you choose the best type of contraception, show you how to use it and give you some supplies. If you decide to have a coil, you'll go back at a later date to have it fitted. |
