Let's Talk Sex

Your responsibilities 2/12

A girl getting a condom out

Do I have to use a condom?
YES – unless you want to risk pregnancy or a nasty dose of a sexually transmitted infection (STI). You could catch an STI from anyone who's ever had unprotected sex, and it's just not worth the risk. Some infections don't have symptoms, so you can have one without even knowing, and the long-term effects can be serious, like blocking a woman's tubes so she can't have children. Boys and girls should carry condoms and always use them. If a boy says he can't feel anything if he uses a condom, tell him: 'You'll feel a whole lot worse if you get an STI'.
