Wayne's beats are quite dark. He's built a name for himself on the underground
releasing instrumentals and has recently started work with Kano who has just
signed to Warners. He set up his studio in a shed next to his house.
He started DJing when he was 17 after having a go on the decks at a mate's house
while he was at college in Tower Hamlets studying business. He then left his college
course to start a six-week sound engineering course and started putting together beats
on PlayStation.
He was part of a crew with Dizzee and Wiley, doing radio shows with them and travelling
to Ayia Napa. After falling out with Wiley he left the crew and while Dizzee and Wiley
went on to big success, Wayne has released various tracks off his own back but remains
unsigned.
He has a radio show on Rinse FM and has just been involved in a Sidewinder mix CD with Riko.
Sidewinder is one of the biggest and most respected urban garage raves in the country.
He thinks that people in the UK should collaborate more – it works in the US. His favourite
vocalist is Lauryn Hill and he also likes Gemma Fox. He dreams of working with Jay Z.
