Isatta has taken some professional and personal knockbacks in the last few years.
She was first noticed at an MC competition at college and was seriously pursued by
three major labels. Instead she decided to go with a small indie, with a clause
to be able to finish her dance course. But by the time she was finished, the label
had gone bust and Tor was left without a deal. For the past few years she's been
working on her own material and giving dance lessons.
Isatta did well at school, and went on to study performing arts, believing she wanted
to act as a career, with singing and MCing as extra-curicular pursuits. She then studied
dance at Lewisham, and as well as MCing she continues to be an all-round performer.
On a personal front Isatta is very close to her mother, who was diagnosed with cancer in
September 2003. She now believes that if she had been signed she couldn't have been a
main carer. She spends a lot of time at her mother's house and has recently built a
studio there.
