Ian's lyrics are all about Manchester – how bad it is there
and that it doesn't hold many opportunities for rappers. He
and his brothers grew up listening to Morrissey but he then
got into NWA and feels that's where his style comes from. He
started writing when he was 14 and his favourite artist is Eminem.
He is part of a band – he calls the music acoustic hip hop – and through
his job working behind the bar at the Comedy Store in Manchester he got them
a gig playing every weekend. A few months ago he also got a chance to do MCing
after the comedy. He writes the words to the tracks but sometimes gets in producers.
He doesn't go to MC battles, but his biggest achievement was on stage at the
Contact Theatre in Oxford Road in Manchester (his brother is his hype man).
He spent a lot of time performing at a youth club when he was younger.
Ian is the baby of his family and lives with his mum, two brothers and two sisters.
He has a good relationship with all of them. His Mum is cool with him MCing,
although she says she doesn't understand the words.
