Print out the sheet.
Gather together the items needed, as in the first picture. Use
an old clean plastic food tub e.g. margarine.
Push the plasticene onto the inside of the plastic tub until
it sticks. Then push the straw into the plasticene to make a mast,
as in the second picture.
Decorate the square piece of paper to use as a sail. Then stick
it to the straw, as in the third picture.
See if the boat floats.
You could try making several boats, using different sized tubs.
Also experiment with the position and size of the mast and sails.
Can you make the boat more stable?
Finding out about things that float and sink will help your
child develop knowledge and understanding of the world. Making
a boat can also aid creative development.
