Help your child to find out about The Hoobs by talking about them and exploring this site. Can you find out: Which Hoob is green? Where do Hoobs live? How do they get from place to place? Why are they asking questions?
The Hoobs discover that children also find out by playing and investigating. Let your child have fun squeezing, prodding and playing with soft and squidgy play dough. Don't worry if he/she doesn't make anything specific. Children can learn from the experience of moulding, kneading, shaping and talking about what they are doing.
Help your child to learn how to find out about things, using books from the library. Choose books on a topic your child enjoys eg football, space, dinosaurs, teddies. Read the words and let your child explore the pictures, looking at details. Show your child how a book "works" and play games where you start to read from the end to the beginning or with the book upside down.
You and your child can also find out about each other. Try playing with a plastic mirror. What kind of silly faces can you make? Who can make the silliest face? Or the happiest? What about a cross face? How do you feel when you're really cross?
You can also do an activity sheet with your child.
