Briefing |
|
| Earlier
on this year, Channel
4 Education held a briefing to
present our work in 2009 and
our commissioning themes for
2010. To view the transcript
and presentation
click
here. Since then, we've
commissioned research from Ruby
Pseudo Consulting regarding the
territories brief, where we want
to commission projects looking
at teens' relationships with public
space, commuting and related
issues. |
We've
specifically commissioned
research to ask teens what issues
they have with travelling in public
space, and what kind of things
would make their daily
journeys safer and more enjoyable.
The research will be presented at a
special briefing session on Tuesday
8 September at Channel 4. If you'd
like to attend, please email
us.
Capacity is limited for this event,
but the full transcript and research
presentation will be available on
the 4Producers link above. |

Smokescreen |

Smokescreen
|
Channel
4 commissioned award-winning
production company Six
to Start to create Smokescreen, a
13-part web adventure about online
privacy, identity and trust; launching
in September. Players must uncover a
mystery on a fictional social network
and in doing so will learn about some
of the threats and opportunities
posed by other people on real sites
like Facebook, MySpace and Bebo. |
The
backstory: Cal's been in a coma
since being involved in a car crash
last year. Before the accident Cal
created a social networking site called
White Smoke, with his best mate
Max. Max now runs White Smoke
with help from friends Melissa, Billy
and Jo. Recently a vicious new game
called 'The Rumour Mill' has been
causing a stir on White Smoke, but
Max thinks it might be a front for
something more sinister. Players are
tasked with finding out who's behind
it, and what they're up to. |

The
Force |

The Force
|
With
unprecedented access to
Hampshire Constabulary, this three part
series follows the investigation
of three major crimes: a murder
investigation that starts with a
body burned beyond recognition,
but with no clues to the identity of
killer or victim; an arson attack that
consumed a Portsmouth block of flats
and as a consequence, destroyed
evidence of who had set the fire;
and a rape case where it's her word
against his and there's not much
evidence to go on. |
These
crimes aren't unique to
Hampshire: they're replicated in
every incident room in the country.
As the police struggle to follow the
evidence, BAFTA-winning director
Patrick Forbes offers a rare insight
into the reality of modern policing.
It's a tightrope walk of triumph and
disaster that exposes the fragility
of the system that too often leaves
cases unresolved and without justice
realised.

Kevin
McCloud's Grand Tour of Europe |

Kevin McCloud |
This
brand new four-part series
will see Kevin Mc Cloud embark on
an epic journey across Europe to
explore the lasting legacy of the
'Grand Tour' on today's Britain. The
series follows in the footsteps of the
aristocrats, artists and architects of
the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries,
who travelled around Europe in
history's equivalent of the gap year.
It was a journey in search of art
and enlightenment, adventure and
debauchery - and the final step in
the education of the British gent. |
|
Each
episode will see Kevin McCloud
in a different part of Europe - from
Paris and Venice, to Athens and the
Alps - following the typical journeys
of the Grand Tourists and revelling in
the sights, sounds, tastes and smells
that changed the way Britain lived
forever. But he will also discover the
dark underbelly of the Grand Tour in
the shady alleys and drinking dens
along its route

Science
of Scams |
Hollyoaks |

Derren and Kat
|
Science
of Scams is a web show
hosted by the maestro of mind
control, Derren Brown. Created by
Objective Productions, it will reveal
how common paranormal scammers
such as psychics, chi masters and
ghost hunters, usually aim specifically
to part the would-be believer from
their hard-earned money, yet
everything observed is probably
pure science. Derren and his co-host
Kat, (the science specialist), explain
the mechanics behind telekinesis,
ghostly viewings, flying UFOs, martial
art brick-breaking using chi force,
psychic reading and more. |
Desperately
Seeking was an online
competition that received 1700
video entries, for a once in a lifetime
prize - to win the role of India in
Hollyoaks. Website users downloaded
a script, practised their lines, used
online advice from the cast and crew
and uploaded their best audition.
25 were shortlisted and took part in
a casting day on the Hollyoaks set
judged by the director and producer.
The final 10 screen-tested for series
producer Lucy Allen. The winner was
the talented Beth Kingston, who will
be appearing in late September. To
