TALKING TO TEENAGERS
Territories Briefing
On 8 September we held a briefing around one of our key themes for 2010: teens, territory and mobility. We commissioned Ruby Pseudo Consulting to talk to teens about travelling and public space. The research has thrown up some amazing insights into how teens routinely have to deal with risks relating to crime and territorial stereotyping, as they try to get from home to school, work or college. More and more services for teens assume that travel is not a problem. However, we hear that teens have real fears and issues with travelling in public space. The research is available on the education page of the 4Producers site (click here), and we're looking for new ideas in this area from any UK production company.

Smokescreen

Smokescreen
Channel 4 Education's 13-part web literacy game about online privacy, identity and trust, has received positive reviews and responses from press, teens, teachers and online safety experts, since its soft launch at the beginning of September. Players must uncover a mystery on a fictional social network, thereby learning about some of the threats and opportunities posed by other people on real sites like Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.

At the same time Smokescreen launched, OFCOM published a survey revealing that over half of all 11-16-year-olds think young people need more advice about online privacy, and over a fifth want more advice about how to deal with inappropriate content and handling cyberbullying. The Queen in 3D
EDUCATION IN PEAK
The Queen in 3D
For the first time ever, unseen 3D footage taken of the Queen during her Coronation year will be shown on Channel 4. The Queen in 3D tells the story of two innovative young camera men, who filmed a 3D colour newsreel they named Royal Review. Their footage covers the Queen at the events she attended in the lead up to and after the Coronation in 1953. It has never been seen before on television. The two-part series will also include 3D footage of the Queen at the Epsom Derby and a trip on the Royal Barge on the Thames. The series will revisit the life and times of Britain in the 1950s - a time which ushered in the era of Royals on television and began the cult of Royal celebrity. Channel 4 has never broadcast in 3D before and is taking the impressive step of distributing millions of pairs of 3D glasses. Our broadcast technicians are busy testing the latest technology, in order to bring the best possible experience of this remarkable footage to the viewing public.

KNTV launches iPhone game
Our RTS Award-winning KNTV Sex programme is being re-shown in October in our morning schedule, following our heroes Nietzchy and Kierky as they discover the strange stories and quirky facts about human reproduction. Online, the weird world of Slabovia.tv and Slabspace has built a loyal community of Slabovian citizens, exploring clips, online games and strange community challenges at the behest of their leader, General Schmerdiakov.   And now, the General has commissioned Slabovia's first iPhone game, GUTS. In GUTS, Nietzchy and Kierky are shrunk down to microscopic size to enter the General's body in order to fight various bacteria and foreign bodies that threaten his health. Featuring Slabovia's usual mix of beautiful animation, quirky characterisation and subtle education, GUTS takes the world of Slabovia from the TV to your PC and now your phone!
