Image conscious Ricky has a great sense of humour. He comes from a supportive family with a background in the trades. He had a hard time at school so now he is keen to prove he is a 'good bloke' and can 'get on with things' but, nevertheless, won't sit back and ignore things he thinks are wrong.

Quick Facts
Age: 18
Home Town: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Ambition: To get a good apprenticeship, and follow in the
footsteps of his bricklayer / scaffolder dad.

Interview | Looking Back

Looking Back Interview

Channel 4: Did Bricking It live up to your expectations?
Ricky: Yes, it was everything I thought it was going to be. It felt a bit like we were being treated like kids in the beginning, being escorted from site, but once we got into it we were treated like adults.

Channel 4: What was the best thing about Bricking It?
Ricky: The whole experience really – doing up the flat and seeing behind the camera.

Channel 4: And the worst thing?
Ricky: Didn't like my journey every morning and night. I'd get up around 4.30 am and have a two and a half hour journey into work. I did have the chance to stay somewhere locally but wanted to be near my friends and family.

Channel 4: What was your high point?
Ricky: Getting on the project – I never thought I would be chosen.

Channel 4: And your low point?
Ricky: Getting kicked off!

Channel 4: What are your favourite memories of the project?
Ricky: A few things… Laurence doing his dancing. You know, being with people, I enjoyed that.

Channel 4: What's the most important thing you learnt?
Ricky: How hard construction work is. The project has given me a very real insight.

Channel 4: What do you think you'll do now?
Ricky: I've been looking for construction jobs in my area, but there's nothing available. I looked into being a fireman, but they're not recruiting until April. I'll apply then, or I might join the army. I am still interested in construction but I need to find where there's work available.

Channel 4: Any advice on working in construction?
Ricky: Give it a go and see if it's for you. Don't think that it's going to be easy – there are some difficult parts to it.

Channel 4: And finally…
Ricky: I'd like to thank everyone.
