Laurence Cunningham
Laurence feels he's stuck in a rut. Currently unemployed, he's only had short-term jobs as a pizza delivery boy and retail salesman. These unfulfilling jobs are in sharp contrast to those of his mates who are enjoying the benefits of learning a trade. Dropping out of A-levels, he is determined to go the distance on Bricking It, as apprenticeships are hard to come by - Laurence has been looking for an apprenticeship for the last 2 years and hasn't been successful.

Channel 4: What are you hoping to achieve from the project?
Laurence: I hope to achieve a basic knowledge of all trades. Plus a strong knowledge of plumbing and to get an apprenticeship at the end of it.
Channel 4: Is it harder than you expected? If so, in what ways?
Laurence: I thought it would be tough - and it was!
Channel 4: Does the project help you work with other people? If so, how?
Laurence: This project has taught me you can't always take people at face value. I have really enjoyed working with certain people and this project has helped me work with all types of people.
Channel 4: Can you name two things you personally contribute to the team?
Laurence: I'm an easy-going person who doesn't talk out of turn. I offer a good opinion if I have one and try to work hard. I am always very opinionated!
Channel 4: What are your next steps?
Laurence: To find an apprenticeship with a nice company and to get good qualifications. At the end of my four-year apprenticeship I would like to start up my own business.
Channel 4: What have you learned from your experiences on the project?
Laurence: I have learned so much work-wise through this project. I have also learned that living away from home during the week makes a massive difference to work.
