Trainees' Meeting
Greg Santos
Greg can take the flak
Tension mounts as the project falls behind schedule.

Tensions have been building on-site, as the trainees seem increasingly incapable of working effectively as a team. It's time for a group meeting, and the trainees gather in the common room.

Zac resents that some trainees aren't taking the project seriously enough. “This means more to me that anything in my life. Personally I think some people are taking this as a ****ing joke.” He singles out Greg Santos and Dan for particular criticism.

Dan, feeling he's been unfairly treated, goes on the defensive, claiming that his offers of help on-site have been rejected by the other trainees. He can't disguise his indignation. “Next time I won't ask. I'll just stand there.” Unwilling to listen to further criticism, Dan leaves the meeting.

Back on site the fallout from the meeting is evident. Greg Santos feels stung by the group's criticism. “I don't know how they want me to be. I guess they want me to be like them but I can't really do that. I am myself.”

Meanwhile Dan remains in an uncommunicative mood. “I'm not allowed to talk. I'm not allowed to do anything. I've got to work. Because apparently if I talk I'm not doing work.”

With team spirit at an all-time low it's time for another meeting. With money draining away from their completion bonus, to some of the trainees it remains clear who is to blame: Greg Santos and Dan.

Greg Santos seems indifferent to the bonus, and to the complaints of his fellow trainees. “If I get the money, I get it. If I don't, I don't. If you want to deduct money off people, you do that.”

The meeting descends into a shouting match, but Greg Santos remains defiant. “I can earn £5,000 in a minute. I can make it to the top.” But Greg's confidence is not backed up by his performance on-site and his reputation among the group takes another nose dive. “You're going on like you a gangster rapper from New York,” Zac tells him.

With just 14 weeks remaining until the construction deadline, will the team find the unity it needs to get the job done?
