For our trainees, Bricking It is their ticket to a real apprenticeship but first, they've got to impress in their interviews.
Bricking It hasn't just been about giving trainees six months of work experience doing up a luxury flat at the end of the project each of the trainees hope they'll be qualified enough to persuade a professional building company to finance them through college for a formal apprenticeship.
So Dr. Phil tries to prepare them for their interviews.
Ten of Britain's top construction companies come to interview them. Laurence is first up with Fairclough Homes. He's been looking for a plumbing apprenticeship for the past two and a half years, but has found nothing. After his interview he's a bit concerned he was too chatty "I called him mate on the way out.."
Lauren wants to follow in her granddad's footsteps and become and painter and decorator. She complains "I never know what to say", but manages to tell her interviewer that she finds it easy to get on and talk to people, just not in an interview situation.
Greg's going to have his work cut out persuading a company he's a reformed character. When his potential employer asked him about lateness Greg decides that honesty is the only policy. He tells him he's been late 11 times, and explains that it wasn't always for anything more than a few minutes late.
David's got different pressures. He's off to the optician to take a colour blind test to see whether he can pursue his chosen career in electric's.
While David waits anxiously for the results, on site it's Zac's turn. At the age of 20 he's much older than most wannabe apprentices companies need to pay more for older apprentices. He's aware this may be his best chance to try and get himself an apprenticeship.
While the other trainees get on with their interviews. David comes back with some bad news. He's tested mildly colour blind but for a standard electrician apprenticeship this won't wash. "The main funding body won't fund me. It's not so much a set back as a complete and utter s***!"
