Our trainees are encouraged to orientate themselves, walk around and try to visualise where the rooms will go. They draw chalk lines on the floors and walls to indicate where the walls will be erected.
The architect's drawings are checked to ensure that everything adds up and can be achieved.
Now it's time to make the walls exist. A forest of metal stud-work is put up, indicating where the walls and the doorways will go. The shape of the flat is becoming clear.
The plasterer boards up one side of the walls, leaving the other side open for the other tradesmen to run their cables and pipes. By the end of Week 3 the metalwork is finished, and plasterboard fixed to one side.
