Work began with brainstorming with the team at Target Living and designing the interior architecture. This meant reconfiguring space and ideally optimising the space planning of the interior. After that I concentrated on the specification including floor treatments, wall details and choosing all the elements of the bathrooms and kitchens. This included the size and colour of the tiles in the bathrooms, wood flooring and other elements such as the introduction of glass tinted walls and a new glass spiral staircase.
Once this specification was signed off we focused on setting out the plan for the interior design of the space which included painting and decorating, window and wall treatments and of course all the furniture and accessories that complete the space.
I have introduced stylish elements including an Italian black lacquered kitchen with stainless steel trimming, limestone bathrooms with walnut wood edging and bright colour into the apartment through pink Perspex cladding to all the doors.
When the apprentices and I first met I introduced them to our concept through a series of mood boards. Once we had briefed them they enthusiastically began executing the plan. They have been working very hard and I have met some great people with a lot of talent and energy.
I have enjoyed taking up this challenge to work with ten people who have never worked on a project like this before. I've entrusted them to work with our professional designs, without compromising our brief.
I genuinely believe that they can do it. It will take guts and determination and we may lose a couple of them in the process but most of these guys will be there until the very end and I'm convinced they will produce a great apartment.
