Completion Bonus
Our trainees know that the £50,000 Completion Bonus is not guaranteed.

Each time they get a formal warning money is deducted from the fund. And any slip-ups on-site will be paid for in the same way.

It wasn't long before the Completion Bonus began to take a beating:

Greg Santos

Punctuality is a basic rule of site life, but Greg is having trouble getting to work on time. When he is late for the third time, and Dr Phil gives him a verbal warning, and the trainees lose £500 from the Completion Bonus.

Before long he's late again. As he is unable to give Dr Phil a satisfactory reason for this, he is issued with a written warning, costing the team a further £1,000.

Greg Males

Greg Males finds himself in trouble when he is caught flouting Health and Safety rules, by sliding down a set of ladders. The welfare of all site workers is taken extremely seriously, so when Dr Phil discovers Greg's mistake he is severely reprimanded, and issued with a verbal warning.

That's another £500 down the pan.

Dan Wright

Dan costs the team time, while using a tool called a fish to pull cables through a steel tube. The fish is a length of very strong nylon cord with eyelets at both ends.

When the fish gets jammed Dan decides to cut the end off, thereby freeing it, but also rendering it unusable. It's just £20 out of the bonus to replace the piece of equipment, but more importantly time lost as all the trainees need to use it.

Dan's major bungle happens when he drills through expensive electrical wiring. Not only does new wire need to be fitted, part of the ceiling has to come down too. Total cost: £1,700.

Dan's dismissal from the project costs the team the full £5,000.

Ricky Crawford

When Ricky loses his temper with Dan, Dr Phil has no choice but to dismiss him from the project. The full £5,000 is instantly deducted.

The Team

The team has been wasting valuable materials. Even Dr Phil's generous 'wastage allowance' isn't enough to compensate for their mistakes. When more plasterboard has to be ordered in the bill of £270 is deducted from the trainees' fund.

Total Deductions

One third of the way into the project the trainees have forfeited £13,990 of their £50,000 bonus.
