Director

Beckett aficionado Walter Asmus is a distinguished German theatre director. He first met Beckett at Berlin’s Schiller-Theater Werkstatt. They became close friends and worked together on many occasions in both theatre and television. Asmus assisted Beckett’s own direction of Waiting For Godot, later directing the classic play himself, including productions at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York (1978) and at Dublin’s Gate Theatre ten years later. He has also directed television productions of Footfalls, Rockaby and Eh Joe.
