1. Insoluble fibre does not dissolve. It is found in whole grains, bran, fibrous vegetables and so on. It acts like a sponge, soaking up moisture and chemicals. Soluble fibre dissolves. It is found in fruits, vegetables and pulses and oats. It can help to reduce cholesterol.
2. If we feel full we are less likely to snack on sweet or fatty foods.
3. 18g. Eat more wholemeal bread and potatoes. Eat fruit, cereal bars or plain biscuits instead of chocolate bars. Eat cereal or toast for breakfast.
4. Fibre absorbs fluid so you fluid intake must increase to account for this.
