Programme Outline

The animation 'War Game' is based upon the popular 1993 children's historical fiction book of the same title by Michael Foreman. A group of young pals who enlist to fight in the trenches of the First World War instinctively lay aside all animosities to play a game of football with the 'enemy' in No Man's Land. This poignant anti-war

drama draws upon the true story of German and British soldiers' impromptu 1914 Christmas Truce on the Western Front during the Great War. Its message is one of common humanity and goodwill.
