Aims

To provide information and resources to support teachers in the following topics:

• trends in some physical properties of the elements in Groups I and VII of the Periodic Table
• trends in chemical reactivity in the same groups
• the reactivity series of metals
• the use of displacement reactions involving metals and their compounds to determine the order of reactivity in a series of metals
• the usefulness of the thermit reaction
