The extensive market and widely-recruited workforce are discussed. Shots of lunch breaks show business permeating life throughout the day.

Pictures and commentary show how 'image' is vital to Singapore, in addition to its excellent location. The youthful, multiracial, international and relatively affluent lifestyle is explored.
10.14 - 11.17
The focus switches to transport and trade. Efficient air, road and sea links are briefly explored. References are made to Singapore's long-standing function as an entrepôt and its place as the second busiest port in the world.
11.17 - 12.24
Footage and commentary explore aspects of the careful planning that underlies Singapore's development. Shots of motorway borders and clean-up routines for construction lorries lead into discussion of the city's Concept Plan.
12.24 - 14.06
The film looks at construction sites around the city. Relatively high wages attract a migrant workforce. Shots of the extremely basic living conditions follow, along with commentary about the life of Thai and Indian workers far from their homes.
14.06 - 16.43
Commentary then introduces Singapore's biggest worries: land shortage and rising costs. Footage of nearby Batan Island begins to suggest answers: the joint exploitation of the island by Indonesia and Singapore. Footage and commentary show how in five years tropical forest with a few local inhabitants has been transformed. Also shown are the factories of multinational companies, the 'country club' for executives and dormitory buildings for Indonesian workers.
16.43 - 18.54
Introduction of Anna Nurlinda. Commentary and interviews explain why she is pleased to get work on Batan, and what her hopes for the future are.

The programme concludes with shots of an entertainment district in Singapore. Mamta is weighing up the pros and cons of the affluent but highly regulated life she lives in Singapore.
