Luis and Tía María are in the shop with their new uniforms.

Tía María is in the shop; three children come in.
María: Hello children!

Almudena: Very well.

Marcos: The uniform is very nice.

Tía María gives a twirl.

Luis with the other three children.
Alberto: Luis, what sort of shop DO you want?
Pero, Luis, ¿qué tienda quieres?
Luis: I don't know. I don't know.

Luis: I just want a shop. Luis’ shop.
Yo sólo quiero la tienda. La tienda de Luis.
Cristina: I have an idea.

Let’s go to visit other shops.

Alberto: It’s half past eleven.

Luis: Let’s go to the town centre.

Luis goes back to the shop door and shouts to Tía María.
Luis: We’ll be back at six.

Sc 3/4 Int La Tienda
Tía María with the three children.
Tía María: I don’t like this shop. It’s not very smart.
La tienda no me gusta. No es elegante.
Marcos: It needs some new colours.
Necesita colores nuevos.
Tía María: Yes, the shop needs brighter colours.
Sí, la tienda necesita colores más vivos.
The children make a few suggestions.
María: Let’s paint the shop with white stripes.
Vamos a pintar la tienda con rayas blancas.
Tía María: No, that’s awful. Terrible.
No. Es horroroso. Terrible.
Tía María:
Very well, so we’re going to paint the shop red.

Three children go with Luis into town to look at various different shops.
Sc 3/6: Int The Butchers’ shop
Mateo: What type of shop this is?

Cristina: This is a butcher's shop.
Es una carnicería.
Mateo: You buy meat here.
Aquí se vende carne.
Alberto: Do you like meat?
¿Te gusta la carne?
Luis: Yes I like sausages, burgers and chicken.
Sí, me gustan las salchichas, las hamburguesas y el pollo.
Alberto: So, do you want to be a butcher?

Luis: No, I don’t like blood.

Sc 3/7: Int La Tienda
The other children are in the shop with Tía María.
Tía María: Let’s cover everything with this.
Vamos a cubrir todo con esto.
In a speeded-up shot we see them cover the remaining furniture with a dust sheet.
Tía María: What time is it?
¿Qué hora es?
Marcos: It’s twelve o’clock.
Son las doce.
María: What time is he coming back?
¿A qué hora viene Luis?
Tía María: Luis comes back at six.
Luis viene a las seis.
Almudena: We’ve only got six hours.

Marcos: Let’s get to work.

We see Tía María and the children speeded up as they rush to decorate the shop interior.
Sc 3/8: Ext in the Town centre
Luis and the other three children are walking in the town centre.
Mateo: What’s this shop?

We see shop frontage: Frutería.
Sc 3/9: Ext Bread shop
Mateo: This is a bakery.
Es una panadería.
Cristina: You buy bread here.
Aquí se vende pan.
Alberto: Do you want to be a baker?

Luis: No.

They all walk off.
Sc 3/10: Ext Fish shop
Cristina: This is a fish shop.
Es una pescadería.
Alberto: You buy fish here.
Aquí se vende pescado.
Mateo: There are lots of different types of fish.
Hay muchos pescados diferentes.
Alberto: Do you want to be a fishmonger?

Luis: No, it smells really bad.

Sc 3/11: Int Shop
We see Tía María and the three children.
She gives them red T-shirts to protect their clothes.
Tía María: Quickly, quickly!

Tía María: Five hours left.

All: Let’s get to work! All hands on deck!

Each of the children in their bedroom.

I love Harry Potter. For example Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Excellent.

Cristina (with headphones on): I like listening to music.

Alberto: I really like playing chess.

We see the chessboard and pieces played rapidly.

Mateo: I like playing tennis at the weekend.

Sc 3/14: Ext in the Town Centre
Luis and the three children are walking through the streets. They go into a supermarket.
The action is speeded up and we see them fill a trolley.
Mateo: This is a supermarket.

Cristina: You can buy everything here.

Alberto: Do you want to work in a supermarket?

Luis: No, it’s too boring.

Sc 3/15: Int Shop
Back in the shop the transformation continues with the clock counting down.
María: The shop is very smart now.
Ahora la tienda está muy elegante.
Almudena: Yes I like it.
Sí, me encanta.
Marcos: The colours are fantastic.
Los colores son estupendos.
Tía María: Yes, I really like them.
Sí, me gustan mucho.
Sc 3/16: Ext in the Town Centre
Luis and the children head for a cake shop.
Luis: What a delicious smell.
¡Qué bien huele!
Alberto: This is a cake shop.
Es una pastelería.
Mateo: You buy cakes here.
Aquí se venden pasteles.
They all come out of the bakery stuffing their faces with beautiful pastries.
Luis: I love cakes.
Me encantan los pasteles.
But a cake shop … No, I like them too much.

They carry on walking through the streets.
Sc 3/17: Int Toy Shop
The three children are standing together.
We see Luis in the background playing with a toy robot.
Mateo: This is the toyshop.
Es una tienda de juguetes.
Cristina: You can buy toys and games here.
Aquí se venden juguetes y juegos.
Alberto: I like computer games.
Me gustan los juegos electrónicos.
They all turn and look at Luis.
Alberto: What are you doing?

Later in the same shop.
Mateo: That’s it. The tienda de Luis is a toy shop.

Luis nods enthusiastically.
Cristina: Yes – Monopoly.

Luis: Yes – but I like games a lot, maybe too much.

He places the toy he is holding back on the shelf.

Tía María: Now we are going to put the shop back in order.

Speeded up shot as they take away the dust covers.
Sc 3/19: Ext in the Town Centre
Luis and the children go into a music shop.
Mateo: This is a music shop.
Ésta es una tienda de música.
Cristina: You buy instruments here.

Luis: I play the piano.
Yo toco el piano.
He sits down at the piano and plays chopsticks – badly.
Children (together): That’s awful!

Luis: I can’t play an instrument.

But I like music.

The children with Tía María.

We see the clock.
Almudena: It’s five o’clock.

Tía María: Let’s put the table in the centre.

Luis and the children go into a pet shop.
Alberto: This is a pet shop.

Cristina (holding a cat): This is a cat. I like cats.

Tía María with the children.
Tía María: Now the curtains. I have blue curtains and yellow curtains.

María: I like blue, and yellow.

Tía María: Yes. Let’s work. All hands on deck!

Luis and children returning to La Tienda.
Cristina: So Luis, what is your shop going to be?

They get up to go on their way.
Sc 3/24: Int: The Shop
The clock is chiming.
Tía María: It’s six o’clock.
Son las seis.
Almudena: Look out! Luis is coming!
¡Cuidado! ¡Que viene Luis!
Sc 3/25: Ext: The Shop
Luis and the children have arrived back outside the shop.
Alberto: It’s six o’clock.
Son las seis.
Luis: Here we are back at my shop.
Aquí estamos de vuelta a mi tienda.
Mateo: But what type of shop is it?
Pero, ¿qué tienda es?
Luis: I don’t know.
No sé.
Sc 3/26: Int: The Shop
Tía María: Quick! Get behind the curtains.
¡Rápido! Detrás de las cortinas.
María: Yes. Keep quiet.
Sí. En silencio.
The four of them hide.
Luis: Let’s go in.

Luis comes in.
We see ‘before’ and ‘after’ text on screen: ‘antes’, ‘después’.
Luis: Where is my shop?

Tía María and the children come out to surprise him.
Tía María: What do you think?

Tía María sighs with relief.
Luis: Now the shop is more attractive.

Tía María: Now the shop is smarter and more business-like.
