Before viewing
- Use an enlarged map of Egypt to identify key historical sights familiar to the children.
- Research what other explorers and archaeologists were busy at in and around the same sites at similar times in history.
Whilst viewing Consider the following:
- How did Belzoni travel around Egypt?
- What was the significance of the Rosetta Stone?
- What did Belzoni use to help him move the sand from the buried statues?
After viewing
- Discuss the significance of Burckhardt on the Belzonis’ life.
- Use a map of Ancient Egypt to pinpoint the areas that Belzoni explored.
- Compare the work Belzoni was doing with the work of other significant explorers of his time.
- Debate: ‘Artefacts from Egypt should be returned’.
