Who has inspired your work?
Originally my inspiration for linocuts came from my art teacher at school.
What particular skills are needed to become a specialist in this field?
Patience, good fine motor skills, concentration, a methodical approach and the ability to think backwards!
What do you particularly enjoy about printmaking?
The whole technical process is completely absorbing. I enjoy the unpredictability of the discipline and the opportunity for experimentation.
What is the most difficult aspect of the work?
Registration – making colour and effects work as you envisage them.
What do you mainly use as a source of ideas for your work?
My life! All my work is autobiographical.
For how long do you normally work each day?
Depending on the size of print 4-8 hours. Other work may take 6-10 hours.
Is there a particular piece of work you would like to make in the future?
My current theme is rust!
