Art – give the children the opportunity to draw simple objects with shadows.

Language – develop vocabulary: introducing words having a connection with light, both technical and descriptive.

RE/PSHE – encourage children to discuss ceremonies and traditions relating to their family culture where candles are used. With older children the symbolism of candles could be explored.
