Amanda Bevan - candle maker and decorator

Biography

Amanda lives and works in Gwent, Wales. She recently bought an old house, built early in the nineteenth century, 20 minutes walk away from Gelligroes Mill where she works in the candle workshop. This decision reflects the value she attaches to the old and traditional, whether it relates to a house or a craft, as in candle making. When she left university, Amanda applied for the job of trainee candle maker through the local job centre. All her training took place while she worked, and within a few months she had mastered the basics.
