Programme Outline

The programme begins in Šurdica’s house. She tells us about village life for her family, which includes her grandparents, who all live together under one roof. She explains how children too are involved in helping to run the farm. Her ten-year-old brother Ivan, for example, drives the tractor at harvest time. She also talks about the hobbies she and her friends enjoy. We learn about favourite pastimes and foods and about folk dancing. Finally we visit the coastal town of Korcula where Marco Polo was born and learn about traditional fishing methods and games.
