Slovenia
Programme Outline
Two Slovenian children, Anze and Lara, travel around the country visiting different regions. First they take us to Postojna Cave where a party of school chidren is enjoying a study visit. Next we are taken to a forest, which we see through the eyes of Grega as he cycles to school. Today there is a cookery lesson at school and we learn about typical Slovenian food. Each group prepares a different dish. Next we visit a floating mill on the River Mura and a farm where the family is preparing for a traditional festival during which winter is ‘chased away’. As a contrast, we are then taken to the city of Lubljana, Slovenia’s capital. Here we see children engaged in favourite pastimes such as rollerblading, and watch children doing traditional dances at a dance school. The programme ends with a trip by balloon from which we see different landscapes, including Bled Castle, and watch children sailing, riding and skiing on the ground below.
