Norway
Programme Outline
The programme begins with some Italian children giving their views on Norway. We learn about the variety of Norwegian lifestyles. Jon Eira lives in the far north and has his own reindeer, which he trains in his spare time. We learn about the special celebrations held on 17 May to commemorate the end of union with Sweden. We visit Hidra, an island to the south of Norway where the people engage mainly in fishing. We are introduced to Alf who is a fisherman and to his two children, who talk about lobster fishing. We attend a rehearsal of the school brass band and a meeting of the children’s after-school club. The programme ends with the children expressing their views on the future of the island.
