Over breakfast Amber and Sam are challenged to a treasure hunt. They get stuck on one clue which is in two parts. Numberella helps them to break it down, choose the operations needed and look back at the problem to check. They all agree that this is a good way to solve the other treasure hunt clues, and realise that some problems have many steps. When the children successfully reach the treasure they find that Uncle Zak thought it was their birthday, which is still a month away.
